Government negotiators at the Havana peace talks strongly rejected a proposal from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) to create special peace zones under the supervision of a UN monitoring mission. The proposal seeks to prevent paramilitary forces from taking advantage of the rebel disarmament and to further demilitarization.
