A shocking video has emerged from China of a woman receiving a surgery to remove 36 iron balls from her head after her two-year-old daughter shot her by accident.

The footage, filmed at a hospital in Chengdu, Sichuan Province on Thursday, shows the X-ray images of the tiny ball bearings stuck in the mother's head. The video also includes images of the ball bearings after they were removed and placed on a piece of gauze.

According to news reports, the girl was playing with the gun given to her father by a friend when she pulled the trigger by mistake and injured her mother.

All but one of the balls were successfully taken out in this first operation, while the last one is due to be removed in a second effort.
