PARIS — A suspect in the November 13 terrorist attacks on Paris has escaped to Syria, according to French intelligence services, based on information from sources close to the investigation of the attack, and a counter terrorism source. The suspect, Salah Abdeslam, 26, might have been the driver for a vehicle that dropped bombers off at the Stade de France on the night of the attack, according to Paris Prosecutor Francois Molins. Abdeslam's fingerprints were found in a car connected with the attacks, and three AK-47s were found in the trunk of a car rented in his name. French authorities believe he purchased 10 detonators prior to the attacks, along with batteries from the the Saint-Ouen l'Aumone shop, Les Magiciens du Feu. According to CNN, French authorities said that on the night of the attacks, Abdeslam waited a few hours before contacting two acquaintances named Mohammed Amri and Hamza Attou. The three of them traveled to Brussels, but when they were stopped at the Belgian border, authorities had not identified the suspects involved in the attack, and allowed them to continue on their way. Upon arriving in Brussels, Abdeslam and another man were picked up at a train station by Ali Oulkadi. Abdeslams's travel companions have all been arrested for their connection with the suspected terrorist, but their lawyers say they had no knowledge of what he was up to in Paris at the time of the attacks. A Belgian security analyst in touch with Belgian security forces told CNN there are no indications that Abdeslam has reached Syria, and their investigation is ongoing.
