Unions from three public sectors -teachers, health-care workers, and judicial system employees- are on strike in Peru, with daily demonstrations in Lima, often ending in clashes with police. The health care workers, on an indefinite strike, are demanding wage increases and the reclassification of 15,000 "temporary" employees so they have access to workplace benefits.
