2 dite pas dhënies se dorëheqjes nga strukturat e policisë se shtetit Prençi ka bere publike skemën sipas te cilës funksionon krimi ne Bulqizë duke deklaruar se humbja e jetës se minatorëve ne miniere nuk është aksident por vrasje. Prençi ka sqaruar se transferimi i tij nga forcat speciale ne qarkun e Dibrës është bere për shkak te përplasjes qe ai pati me zv/ministrin e brendshëm ne fushatën elektorale për zgjedhjet lokale. Si një prej drejtuesve kryesore te policisë ne ngjarjen e "21 janarit", Prençi ka deklaruar se policia nuk kishte mjetet e duhura për te përballuar turmën. Ndërkaq njeriu qe u arrestua ne 14 shtatorin e '98, ka sjelle detajet për marrjen e Televizionit Publik Shqiptar. Shemsi Prençi u vu ne qendër te debatit publik pasi për here te pare një drejtues i larte i policisë akuzon kupolën e ministrisë se brendshme për lidhje me mafien.
