Ne maj te këtij vit Shqipëria merr për here te pare presidencës e radhës se Këshillit te Evropës. Nëse ky drejtim menaxhohet mire nga klasa politike, atëherë te gjitha palët dalin te fituara. Ky ka qene mesazhi qe ka përcjelle përfaqësuesi i posaçëm i Sekretarit te Përgjithshëm te Këshillit te Evropës, Gerard Stoudmann, gjate një takimi ne Tirane me ministrin e Jashtëm Edmond Haxhinasto. "Këshilli i Evropës po mirëpret presidencën e ardhshme te Shqipërisë. Kjo gjë është me rëndësi jo vetëm se është hera e pare qe merrni presidencën, por kjo gjë vjen ne një moment kyç dhe shënon një hap te rëndësishëm ne rajon. Nëse çdo gjë shkon mire, ne kohen e presidencës suaj, situata do jete me fitim për te gjitha palët. KiE qëndron ne gatishmëri t`u asistoje dhe kontribuoje ne integrimin e Shqipërisë ne Evrope, ne bashkëpunim me ju, qeverinë shqiptare dhe BE," është shprehur Stoudmann. Ndërkohë numri një i diplomacisë shqiptare, Haxhinasto, theksoi se ne fokus te takimit ishin zhvillimet e fundit politike ne vend, si dhe reformat integruese. Gjate takimit Haxhinasto shprehu dhe angazhimin e Shqipërisë për te siguruar stabilitet ne rajon dhe krijim e mundësive për anëtarësimin e Kosovës ne KE.
