Kur nga zgjedhja e presidentit na ndajnë me pak se 5 muaj, diplomacia amerikane kërkon hapur konsultim te gjere me te gjithë faktorët politike për kreun e ri te shtetit shqiptar. Pas një takimi me liderin e opozitës, Edi Rama, ambasadori amerikan, Aleksandër Arvizu, ka preferuar te mos përdorë termin "konsensual" për pasardhësin e Bamir Topit, por ka nënvizuar rëndësinë e një procesi gjithëpërfshirës, veçanërisht për shkak te krerëve te institucioneve te pavarura qe burojnë nga presidenti, si Prokurori i Përgjithshëm, apo kreu i SHISH. Ambasadori amerikan ne Tirane ka deklaruar se biseda me kryesocialistin Rama është përqendruar tek reformat qe janë duke u shqyrtuar tani ne parlament, por edhe për një vizite te mundshme te Rames ne Shtetet e Bashkuara.
