AMMAN, JORDAN — Jordanian authorities have named the officer accused of killing two Americans and a South African at a United States sponsored security training facility. The shooting was carried out by 29-year-old Jordanian police captain, Anwar Abu Zeid, at the King Abdullah Training center, near the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Monday.
He began firing on Jordanian officers, as well as foreign civilian security contractors in the training center's canteen. Anwar Abu Zeid was eventually killed by Jordanian security forces, Reuters reports.
Two American, and one South African civilian security contractors, were killed, as well as a Jordanian translator. A wounded Jordanian succumbed to his wounds later. Three more Jordanians were wounded in the shooting, as was a Lebanese civilian.
