Montevideo, Oct 20 (EFE), (Camera: Rubén Figueroa).- The Spanish language is "ecumenical and universal" because when the colonies proclaimed independence, they decided that it would be their nations' language, the director of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), Darío Villanueva, told EFE. The academic also believes that the appearance of the "spanglish", a mix between Spanish and English, will not restrict the advance of the Latin language in the United States.
