As the Muslims around the world observe Muharram and pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for their matchless sacrifices, we must keep the spirit of the holy month in mind. The great Imam, through his act, taught us love, forbearance, patience and lofty moral values. We should adhere to his ideals in letter and spirit. We should not allow hate speech and sectarian vested interests to vitiate atmosphere. I would particularly appeal to the Ulama and Mashaykh to play their role in promoting love and brotherhood. We need to send a strong message to those who want to divide us that the people of Pakistan stand united and would not allow anyone to create wedge on any ground. This is the spirit of Muharram-ul-Haram. This is the spirit of Islam.
