Bolivia is struggling with a growing obesity crisis due to the consumption of high-sugar drinks. Figures reveal that an average Bolivian citizen drinks an average of 94 liters of soda a year. That’s the second highest rate in Latin America. Moreover, there’s been a 48% rise in obesity levels, the third highest in all the Americas. Many Bolivians are developing heart problems and diabetes and many more are overweight. The Bolivian government is taking steps to encourage people to change their eating habits, including a law against false fast-food advertising. Dmitri O’ Donnell reports from La Paz for teleSUR.
