In July 2013, California prisoners began a 2-month hunger strike to demand an end to solitary confinement, whereby inmates were held in total isolation cells for up to 22 hours a day for extended periods of time. Two years later authorities reached a settlement. In today's program, host Michael Fox speaks with Mohamed Shehk of the prison reform organization Critical Resistance, which played a pivotal role in the struggle. Also, the Mexican government spends lavishly on publicity and to influence the press, but cannot hide the ugly truth of the country's reality. teleSUR
