How do you discuss the ongoing fight between CG animation versus traditional stop-motion and hand-drawn animation of the past? Parodying a classic late '80's song! It's only natural. No copyright infringement intended.
Call me a Darkwing, Call me a sheep
I prefer lines over codes on computer screens
Why Shaun tanked while minions kept in the dough
I feel that tradition has sowed its last row
Sometimes you see too much perfection involved
What happened to flaws that seemed more hu-man?
Maybe it’s finally died?
People I don’t why you go for CG
From Pixar to Blue Sky there ain’t no rarity
Can’t just believe
Harryhausen and Nick Park agree
People I don’t know why you go for CG
True there is Toy Story, even Wall-E
True computers can help make great stories
But then there is Aardman, some hard working folks
Moving their clay and then painting broad strokes
These people work hard for not very much
And keep losing to software that might be quite rushed
Sometimes it feels like they’re blokes.
Still don’t why you just root for the CG
They may make the spaceman fly, but the latter makes crying sheep
You can be sure that there’s heart
Put into these different forms of art
But still I just can’t tell why everyone goes for CG
Out of the storyboards, into the screen
Leaving the pen and the paper
Either going to software or I’m sure some digital vapors.
Sometimes I keep staring up at the wall
And question when drawings were king.
Eager to draw, ready to wow
Why do kids go for CG?
Hollywood I don’t why you go for CG
When there’s Wallace and Gromit to even classic Disney
And if 2D’s not the norm,
Prepare for computer rise and fall
Soon, I know you will get sick of that CG
People I can’t tell why you still go for CG
Too high-tech, too cheap, you can’t beat the drawings
Cause when it comes to true heart
The clayness of Aardman over Minion farts
World I am sure you will grow sick of CG
