Not a very happy news for Honda owners. The company has recalled more than 2 lakh cars in India over issues relating to its airbag inflators. Models to have affected include previous generation CR-V, City, Civic and Jazz. But the positive thing even in this is that the company would be replacing airbags of all the cars absolutely free of charge. These replacements would be done at Honda dealerships across the country and would be done in a phased manner.
Honda customers will receive a direct communiqué from the company regarding this matter. The replacement works will commence from October 12. It is being said that the affected cars have been manufactured between 2001 and 2012. For instance, the affected Civics have been manufactured between 2003 and 2012, while the CR-Vs have been manufactured between 2004 and 2011.
Honda has created a website for this purpose where owners can check whether their cars come under this recall or not by inserting a 17 character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number.
