Since last year, Skype has been preparing to make video and voice calls available without plugins on the Internet.
This convenience can finally be yours, as Microsoft will be baking in this feature to its newly-released Edge browser for Windows.
The newest version of Windows 10 Insider Preview includes this feature, thanks to Object RTC API.
This is an element that allows users to make real-time video and voice calls without having to install any plugins.
This applies not only to Skype for Web and Outlook.com, but all other services compatible with WebRTC.
Users will have to keep in mind that this is merely a preview feature for now, and that it won’t be launching for the public just yet.
But Microsoft claims the preview stage won’t last too long, and that the feature will roll out in earnest sometime in 2015.
