Malaysian Aids Council advisor, Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir yesterday speaks to Malaysiakini on the announcement made by DPM on mandatory HIV test for pre-marital Muslims couple.
Marina stressed that she's not against testing if it is done voluntary with pre- and post-test counselling as well as sustained public education.
According to her, HIV test is not like any other test, people will get stigmatized if they are HIV+ and it is an important effect because it causes a lot of suffering.
She also responds to Perak MB, Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin's proposal not to allow couple with HIV to marry.
