Narawi Haron casts his vote at the SK Hulu Sungai Merah polling station. The independent candidate is upbeat about his chances, claiming that he had received a good response during his house-to-house visits despite not having any election machinery to back his campaign.

"I'm proud of my supporters, who had the courage to cheer "Hidup Narawi!" in the presence of (BN) ministers.

"I expect to get 4,000 votes this time around," he said.
