A federal judge has handed right-wing opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez a jail sentence of nearly 14 years. He was found guilty of inciting violence in February 2014 that lead to the deaths of more than 40 people. He was also found guilty of criminal association. His defense lawyers said they would appeal the sentence. The ruling was celebrated by grassroots organizations that view Lopez as a dangerous conspirator. A spokewoman for the Committee of Guarimba Victims said that the opposition lies when they say they were holding a peaceful march. teleSUR
