On Wednesday September 9, 2015 at approximately 2:15 p.m. Windsor Police were dispatched to the intersection of Howard Avenue and Erie Street in relation to shots being fired. Information was received that a green Toyota was shooting at a black Jaguar and that both vehicles had fled the area.
Upon arrival in the area, police observed a red Nissan facing Northbound on Howard Avenue just South of Erie Street. The vehicle had fresh damage to the windshield. Police spoke with the 31 year old driver of the vehicle. Police learned that the Nissan was North on Howard Avenue approaching Erie Street. The Nissan was passed by a green Toyota and as the vehicle passed , a male passenger extended his arm out of the vehicle and fired a handgun at a black Jaguar that was in front of the Nissan. The driver of the Nissan advised police that he has a dash camera that may have captured the incident. Police obtained video footage of the shooting from the onboard camera. The shooter is visible in the video footage. The suspect fires at the driver side of the Jaguar and it appears that one of the rounds ricocheted off the Jaguar and struck the windshield of the Nissan. The projectile travelled through the windshield, the driver's shirt collar, and then into the driver's seat. It is fortunate that the driver only sustained very minor injuries from glass fragments as the projectile went through the windshield. After the shooting, the Jaguar appears to chase after the Toyota.
