During the last decade, Argentina’s big landowners focused on producing soybeans for export, due to their high international price. This has meant that family farms have become the main food providers as their production is based on crops for domestic consumption. Family farming currently explains more than 53% of the jobs in this branch of the economy. Unlike privately own farms, they develop horizontal or cooperative organizational structures.
