Just days after Guatemalan President Otto Peres Molina was forced to resign in a massive corruption scandal, voters are heading to the polls to choose a new president. Voting began early Sunday morning with dozens of parties and candidates on the slate. Manuel Baldizón of the leading center-right opposition party is running neck and neck with independent challenger Jimmy Morales, followed by former first lady of the National Unity of Hope Party. If no candidate wins more than 50% of the vote, the top two will face off in a runoff on October 24. teleSUR
