Growing evidence reveals that smuggling and paramilitary activity along Venezuela's borders are part of broader efforts to destabilize the country. Some 30 paramilitary groups are operating in the border area, seeking to undermine the Bolivarian Revolution. Many are engaged in smuggling, and it is estimated that 40% of Venezuela's heavily subsidized food products in addition to cheap gasoline are brought across the borders, creating shortages at home. teleSUR interviews journalist Z.C.
