The 15 island member nations of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) are home to one of the world's most biologically diverse regions. In coordination with the German government, efforts are underway to guarantee the sustainability of the islands' coastal and maritime resources and protect them against the impact of climate change, which in the case of erosion and the destruction of coral reefs also negatively affects tourism and the fishing industry.
