Students and teachers in Honduras are organizing to save the Honduras School of Art, which may soon be closed down or transformed into a regular educational institution due to changing educational policies and lack of funding. They say that the country’s only art school, which as existed since 1940, has been abandoned by the state, and its existence is more precarious than ever in light of new education reforms. Amid protests, they are now demanding a new building and a new budget for one of the few spaces open to Honduran artists. Gerardo Torres reports from Central America for teleSUR.
