Last week, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad offered an amnesty to soldiers who have deserted or refused to complete their military service. But deserters and rebel fighters are not convinced by a promise from a regime that has tortured thousands of prisoners. Our correspondents met with former Syrian army deserters who are now refugees in Jordan.
