NASA's Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer, or LADEE for short, recently detected the presence of the neon.

Ever since the Apollo missions, scientists have speculated that the moon’s exosphere contains neon, but they were not able to confirm their suspicions.
That changed recently when NASA's Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer, or LADEE for short, detected the presence of the gas.
Due to the flimsy nature of the moon’s surroundings, the neon concentrations found weren’t dense enough to result in any sort of glow, but there was an abundant amount of it.
The craft’s detector also noted that its quantity shifts rather dependably throughout the day.
It reaches its highest point at about 4 o’clock in the morning, moon time.
