Two shooters opened fire outside the US consulate in Istanbul, Monday, before fleeing after security staff shot back. One of the assailants reportedly fled the scene while another barricaded herself in a house which the police then surrounded. One person was taken to an ambulance following the shooting although reports on casualty numbers and type are unclear.

In a separate incident, an Istanbul police station was targeted in a bomb blast, injuring at least 10 people, seven of whom are police officers.
