Obama: Countering the Islamic State 'will take time'

President Barack Obama said Wednesday that the objective of the United States is "to degrade and destroy" the Islamic State after the beheading of a second American journalist by the Sunni extremists.

He also announced additional US planes to police the skies over Europe's eastern flank bordering Russia.
