Authorities in India and Pakistan made frantic efforts Monday to pluck tens of thousands of people to safety from floods which have killed at least 350 as desperate residents huddled on rooftops.

Among those trapped were 29 Malaysian students on a holiday trip to Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they are medical students at the Manipal Medical Campus in the state of Karnataka.
