The Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE) has called for an indigenous “uprising” on August 10. Its call dovetails with right-wing opposition protests against the progressive government of President Rafael Correa. Many are surprised that the CONAIE, with its roots in the radical left opposition to the neoliberal oligarchy, would oppose the Citizens' Revolution, whatever differences might exist.
