Several trucks were reportedly set ablaze by members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) as the militants allegedly were attempting to block roads near the eastern Turkish city of Erzincan. The incident was followed by an exchange of fire with Turkish security forces near the site of the ambush. Violence has increased in the country in the past week, with the Turkish government launching airstrikes against Kurdish militant bases in Iraq.
