A movement is underway to install the first statue of a real, historical female figure in Central Park; the current monuments include mostly men and two fictional women--Alice in Wonderland and Mother Goose.

Central Park is a beloved area in New York City, but some activists are trying to correct an aspect of it that has been troubling for one particular group. 

The New York Times states plainly, “Of the 22 statues of historical figures in Central Park, all are men.”
