Hundreds of workers gathered outside the national Capitol in Washington DC on Tuesday to announce the presentation of a bill to Congress demanding $15 an hour. Accompanied by Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Keith Ellison, they insisted that the current minimum wage of $7.25 an hour is a starvation wage that must be raised to a living wage. $15 is a mere trifle compared to the $9,000 an hour raked in by the McDonald’s CEO, while many workers must work at two or three jobs just to survive on the current wage, they say.
