Dozens of Palestinians protested on Tuesday in front of Gaza’s Electricity Company, calling on Arab-governed countries send fuel aid. A nine-year siege by Israel has made the fuel shortage unbearable, and this was intensified when Egyptian military forces destroyed 95 % of the tunnels through which fuel was formerly transported from Egypt to the Gaza Strip. Furthermore last summer’s Israeli war on Gaza made its only power plant practically inoperative. This summer, Gaza residents will be lucky if they have electricity four hours a day.
