John McCain said he doesn’t feel he needs an apology from Donald Trump, but does believe one is owed to war veterans, particularly those who endured captivity.

John McCain has publicly responded to the blistering comments about him recently made by Donald Trump.

McCain said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe he doesn’t feel he personally needs an apology, but does believe Trump owes one to war veterans, particularly those who endured captivity. 

He further noted, “There’s so many men and some women who served and sacrificed and happened to be held prisoner...To denigrate their service, somehow, is offensive to most of our veterans.”

Trump’s comments don’t seem to have affected McCain’s vision of himself, as he noted that
