Peru has one of the largest indigenous populations in Latin America and comprises approximately 45% of the country’s 30 million citizens. Legislation, however, falls short of fully recognizing their rights. Indigenous people often face discrimination. Opposition congressmen have denounced the government’s failure to take measures to protect the country’s multiculturalism and multilingualism. Rael Mora reports from Lima for teleSUR
