A volcano in western Indonesia continued to spew clouds of searing gas high into the air, letting out a new pyroclastic flow of hot ash on Friday. Authorities are closely monitoring Mount Sinabung on Sumatra, one of Indonesia's main islands, after the volcano has been more active than usual in recent days. The 2,460-meter (8,070-feet) Mount Sinabung has erupted sporadically since 2010, when it caught scientists off guard and became active after being quiet for four centuries.
