As the reach of climbing continues to extend and globalisation brings more people into the sport, new climbing areas are cropping up at an incredible rate. On today's show, we're taking a look at one such place; Malaysia. We grabbed a word with Mahdi Parsafarid, an Iranian-born climber who's just opened his own climbing wall in the country. Mahdi was previously a member of the Iranian climbing team and later a coach to it, but now his efforts lie outdoors where he has been establishing some of Malaysia's hardest sport climbs. He has freed numerous lines established by other climbers during bolting trips and is currently working a project he estimates to be 9a/+. Mahdi is keen to see more international climbers visiting the country to enjoy both its climbing and the beauty of its natural places. Judging by the quality of the climbing in this video he sent us, it shouldn't be too hard to convince them!
