Yemen 'humanitarian truce' breached by more fighting and airstrikes

At least 35 people are believed to have been killed in fighting near the Yemeni city of Aden and ten more in airstrikes on the capital Sanaa.

The deaths occured despite a temporary humanitarian truce brokered by the United Nations which was supposed to have begun on Saturday.

A coalition of Arab states has been bombarding Houthi rebels since March in a bid to reinstate President Abd- Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

Meanwhile a mass funeral has taken place in Yemen’s Hadramount province for 53 soldiers killed by friendly fire,

They died on Wednesday when the Saudi-led Arab coalition bombed a military base packed with troops loyal to Yemen’s president who had fled to Riyadh..
