When Bryce Casavant, a conservation officer in Canada, refused to put down two bear cubs who were stuck on a tree, he was suspended without pay.

Animal control officers are often faced with a difficult decision to put down the animals that are deemed to be a threat to humans.


Recently, a bear was shot in Port Hardy, Canada after entering a mobile home on multiple occasions and breaking into a freezer that contained meat.


When Bryce Casavant, a conservation officer, refused to put down two of her cubs who were stuck on a tree, he was suspended without pay.

Instead, the cubs were rescued and taken to a wildlife center.
