Thousands of displaced residents and tourists set up makeshift tents in Kathmandu on Sunday, following the 7.8 magnitude, massive earthquake that struck Nepal on Saturday, leaving more than 3,200 dead and 6,500 injured. The earthquake hit a heavily populated area of Nepal, including the capital, Kathmandu. Though its impact spread far beyond the Kathmandu Valley.

Strong aftershocks were still being felt on Sunday, including one with a magnitude of 6.7. Many people were left homeless after the quake caused houses to collapse. Others were too afraid to return home, fearing another earthquake or aftershock.

India has ramped up its relief operations in quake-ravaged Nepal, with the focus on deploying medical and engineering teams and opening up road links to speed up the evacuation of hundreds of stranded Indian nationals.
