A pink flamingo at Sorocaba zoo in Brazil has become the first of its kind to receive a prosthetic leg. The six-year-old Chilean flamingo fractured his left leg a month ago and it had to be partially amputated to stop infection from killing the bird. Veterinarian Andre Costa performed the amputation and says the bird wouldn't have survived with just one leg. The seven-inch carbon limb was donated by a local prosthesis manufacturer. The flamingo is expected to recover completely in the next few weeks.
