Skyrocketing urban rents have caused a number of small businesses to either relocate or close completely.
The owner of Jesse’s Deli in Brooklyn is now facing such a decision, and has chosen to make his plight known in a rather creative fashion.
He’s holding a gentrification sale, in which everyday goods have been assigned fancy descriptors.
The prices of the merchandise have also been inflated by 2 and a half times, just like his rent.
Shoppers can now pick from a ‘curated selection of extension cords,’ or for 18 dollars, grab a box of ‘Oaxacan Sea Salt Taco Rub.’
