The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) has held primaries ahead of December’s parliamentary elections, with over 1,000 candidates appearing on ballots countrywide. Of these, 98 will be selected as candidates of the ruling party, the largest in Latin America. Only 15% of the candidates are above the age of 50 and over half of them are women. A recent poll shows that 62% of Venezuelans want the PSUV to stay in power. teleSUR
