National Assemblyman Hong Il-pyo has been a forerunner in protection of human rights and the rights and interests of minorities. As a judge, he broke precedents for cases involving marginalized classes, and since entering politics in 2008, he has been maintaining his focus on minorities and listening attentively to their voices.

Born in Hongseong, Chungcheongnam-do Province, Assemblyman Hong began developing strong ties with Incheon since his childhood when he frequently made trip to the port city to visit his relatives. In later years, he even served as a judge in Incheon and now, he is a representative of one of its districts. He is constantly seeking new platforms to communicate with the citizens of Incheon in order to gain their confidence and trust, while proposing and implementing policies for the common good.

We joined him on a recent trip to Incheon Nam-gu Multicultural Family Support Center, where he had a chance to speak with foreign women married to Koreans. This was part of his effort to understand the needs and grievances of minorities and marginalized classes so that he can better assist them and be their voice.

Join us on The INNERview this week to meet Assemblyman Hong Il-pyo, who has been striving to create a world that provides equal opportunities to everyone and where everyone is respected!
