Another really important thing when trying to choose a photographer is their personality. I think it’s essential that you meet with the photographer beforehand and chat with them and interact with them and make sure your personalities click. The photographer is going to be with you all day, behind the scenes with you and your family when you’re getting ready so it’s really important that you feel a connection and you feel comfortable around your photographer so I think it’s essential that you meet beforehand.
These day’s there’s, people are busy, people are travelling and it’s not always easy to meet with someone in person, maybe you’re not even living in the same city. In this case I’ll have a Skype meeting with people and this is fairly common, I do this fairly often. It’s not the same as meeting in person but at least you get a sense of their personality, you can interact with each other, you can see if you have a connection or not and for me it’s important, I don’t want to shoot a wedding where I don’t feel that connection and I think for someone who’s looking for a photographer it’s important to feel that connection and to feel comfortable around the photographer.
