Panama's Supreme Court has given the green light for judicial proceedings against former president Ricardo Martinelli. He is accused of spying on the telephone conversations of politicians, businessmen, and religious leaders. In 2010, Martinelli's administration purchased the technology to carry out such electronic espionage for US$13.4 million. Martinelli is accused of taking the money for these purchases from the National Assistance Fund. teleSUR
