In or out of Europe? On Tuesday the UK parliament set Britain on its path to a referendum on EU membership within the next two years. This was a campaign pledge by David Cameron. The re-elected prime minister, who backs staying in the EU, is being pressured to keep his promise to bring it all to a vote. So why is a nation that was talking a few years ago about a referendum on joining the euro now talking about leaving the EU?
