Sightings of invasive climbing perch on two of Australia’s northernmost islands have sparked fears that the fish will soon be taking over the mainland’s waters.
The climbing perch has some pretty impressive skills for a fish, including the ability to survive out of water for about a week and amble about on dry land.
Unfortunately, it’s also a particularly invasive species and has been known to outcompete the native occupants of various environments.
