The problem that people have been facing regarding viewing the Google Maps is, the moment a mobile shows ‘No Service’, Google maps also stops responding. Unless the map is saved for offline access, you cannot access it after any minor to major snag in the internet connection. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to store a particular area of the map to have offline access. If you are on an unknown track and simply on your own depending only on Google Maps available on your mobile. If you get stuck, this offline version can be your savior in trouble.
A single identical system is used on both, the Android and iOS for figuring out the intended location on the mobile. Before getting started have a look at the App Store on your iPhone or Play Store on an Android phone to check whether there is any latest update of Google Maps available or not. Then get started with the procedures to have the map of your location saved.
• Once you are completely assured of the fact that your mobile has the latest version of Google Maps, you can download that on your device to start the search for finding the particular area you are looking for. You can save that particular area on Google maps for future reference when the device is offline.
• Google Maps flash the area along with the name of that place, displayed at the bottom part of the screen. Tap on the name flashed at the bottom of screen.
• There is an icon featuring three dots on the top most right corner of the device. Tap on it.
• Select the option, Save offline map.
The next phase of this procedure comprises of a lot of zooming in-out, panning, etc. Make sure, you keep an eye on the size limit. There is an alert about the same, constantly flashing along the top most part of the device. If the map area seems to be quite large, you might need to zoom in for repeating the action, mainly for the part left out. The moment you feel that you have managed to reach satisfactory level, tap ‘Save’ to save the map with a particular name.
In order to access the saved maps, you might need to slide to the menu draw for selecting My Places from a long list of different options. Scroll down to the bottom of that page, where you can find all the offline maps stored on the device.
One particular saved map remains on the device for 30 days only. After that period is over, the app can purge the saved map to clear off enough space on a mobile or some other device.
